Standard 2: Skill and Fitness Based Competence
Physical education teacher candidates are physically educated individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate competent movement performance and health enhancing fitness delineated in the NASPE K-12 Standards.
In PED 182: Health related Fitness, Corey was required to develop a fitness program that included aspects of cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance and flexibility. By developing this program Corey was able to improve his own performance. Prior to developing this program, Corey participated in several fitness tests that showed his current fitness level. These tests were used to develop the fitness program in order to improve Corey’s own abilities. This shows Corey’s ability to address NASPE Standard 2, and use skill performance and determine a measurable goal to attain.
Corey was apart of the 2008 SUNYAC Champions for men's soccer. His abilities on the field had won him to the all-tournament team in SUNYAC's in 2007. Corey's skills and knowledge of physical fitness and activity shows his ability to be competent in physical skills and fitness.
